Today, I want to write about a design style that I hold near and dear. I call it "Curated Design." What I mean by this is taking items you love and using them to style your pad. Let’s be real: if you’re a collector, you probably have treasures stuffed away in a box in that back bedroom. You love them; you collect them, but you have no idea what to do with them. Well, guess what? It’s time to unleash those hidden gems and decorate! There are tons of ways to showcase your personality and creativity.
Let’s talk about a simple one, like an album collection. You can buy record frames and use them as wall decor in a gallery wall effect. If you want to go big, I recently saw cabinets made exclusively for album storage and display at KBIS in Las Vegas by DeVil's, a custom cabinet company that knows how to blend function with flair. Imagine the envy on your friends’ faces when they enter a room filled with your favorite vinyls, spinning tales from the past!
Another idea? Magazines. What if you have all the Rolling Stones or Playboys from an era like the '70s? Holy hell, let’s display those too! I’ve used those large silver clamps; they work great and can carry a lot of weight—no flimsy stuff here. You can do the same with comics too; after all, that makes for some seriously colorful wall art and a conversation starter that’ll have your guests reminiscing about their childhood.
Now, what if you’re an artist and have hundreds of paintings just sitting around? Use those with the clamps and display them! Not only will it brighten up your space, but they’ll also act as an organic gallery. Who knows, a friend could come over, fall in love, and suddenly you’re making cash off your creations—how about that for a side hustle?
All I’m saying is, if you really think about it, you probably have some cool stuff sitting around in a box. Dust off those treasures, mix and match styles, and create a space that screams you. Don’t let anything go to waste; turn your pad into a curated masterpiece that tells your unique story. So, go ahead and get creative! You’d be surprised at how much magic is waiting to be discovered.
